Malagasy Prostitutes Expelled From Mauritius

Panafrican News Agency, 7 April 2000

Louis, Mauritius (PANA) - Nine Malagasy women found to be involved in prostitution in Port Louis and at Grand Bay, a resort village in the north of the island, were expelled Wednesday by police.

The police are presently looking for other women from Madagascar who have not left the country after their visas expired.

Meanwhile, officers of the Passport and Immigration Office and the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit are searching guest houses and other small hotels in a bid to identify foreigners involved in prostitution or working illegally in the country.
