Italy Cancels Mozambique's Debt

PANA. 24 January, 1996.

MAPUTO, Mozambique (PANA) - Italian Wednesday cancelled 192 million dollars worth of debt that Mozambique had contracted between 1982 and 1992.

The cancellation agreement was signed in Maputo.

Italian Ambassador Ugo De Mohr, who signed the agreement for his government, said it would help improve Mozambique's balance of payments in this "delicate phase" of economic structural reforms.
