Resolution on Southern African Region

The resolution was taken on the basis for Foreign policy in the Southern African region.

The SACP resolved to support interactions with progressive forces elsewhere in the region, including trade unions, progressive intellectuls, NGOs and parties where they exist, towards democratically-driven, popular and gender sensitive process and to support the initialtive of the Southern African Trade Union Coordinating Council (SATUCC), COSATU and NACTU in drafting a social charter of basic rights for workers in the Southern African region. Also the SACP resolved to press for the adoption of such a charter by SADCC and for protection of basic rights of workers to be incoporated into any agreements signed by the Government of National Unity and that the charter must inform any trade union negotieted in the region.
