Most recent update on 1199 Strike

From the Greater Hartford Labor Coucil, AFL-CIO, 20 March 2001

The 1199 Hospital and Health Care Workers/SEIU is reporting that Governor Rowland is paying for the strike breakers, transporting them to work in State rented vans, paying for their hotels and of course calling out the National Guard. It is anticipated that the Governor will call a state of emergency tomorrow. The picket lines will start at 6:00am tomorrow and will end at midnight (although it is anticipated that some workers will be locked out). Please plan to be at the 11:30 rally at the Governors mansion, the 5:30pm rally at St. Mary's Home or one of the picket lines - here are the picket lines in Hartford:

a.. St. Mary's Home, 2021 Albany Avenue, West Hartford
b.. Alexandria Manor, 55 Tunxis Avenue, Bloomfield
c.. Mediplex of Hartford, 160 Coventry Street, Bloomfield
d.. Wintonbury Healthcare Center, 140 Park Avenue, Bloomfield
e.. Olympus Health Care Center, , 20 Scott Swamp Road, Farmington
f.. St. Elizabeth Health Center, 51 Applegate Lane , East Hartford
