in exploitation of hardwood forests is an afront to

- From South and Meso American Indian Rights Center
(SAIIC), 15 December 1997. Logging concessions on
traditional Maya lands in Southern Belize and need for
full participation of the Maya people in all development

development resulting from the highway will further
threaten their forests and their livelihoods.

been postponed until January 7. Belize is in the process
of granting permits for oil exploration on traditional
Maya lands in the Toledo District, including the Columbia
            River Forest Reserve.
