Recent sources on Indian cinema

From S. Jain <skjain@server.uwindsor.ca>, 7 nov 1995

Unless I have missed (I was off list for a while) I have not seen or read a note about the _Encyclopaedia of Indian Cinema_ which has recently been published. A review of the encyclopaedia (by Rosie Thomas, Senior lecturer in film theory, Univ. of Westminster, UK) appeared in _The Times Higher Education Supplement_ of March 31, 1995. Edited by Ashish Rajadhyaksha and Paul Willemen, _Encyclopaedia of Indian Cinema_ is published jointly by the British Film Institute and Oxford University Press. Priced at SterlingP 29.95, it is a hefty volume of 568 pages.

Also of interest to the Indian film enthusiasts would be (1) Ella Shohat and Robert Stam's _Unthinking Eurocentrism: Multiculturalism and the Media_ (Routledge, 1995)_ 405 pp SterlingP 45.00); and (2) _Imperialism and Theatre: Essays on World Theatre, Drama and performance_ edited by J. Ellen Galnor of Cornell (Routledge, 1995) 264pp. SterlingP 40.00).
