State opposition party calls for Erap to resign

A-Infos News Service, Wednesday 18 October 2000

LEFT GROUPS, MIXED STANDS!
LAN, PREPPING UP FOR MORE INTERVENTION!

Yesterday, October 18, Wednesday, was a big day for us here in the Philippines because we made some intervention in an bourgeois, anti-Erap Estrada opposition rally. Erap Estrada, the President of the Philippine State, is being called down to resign by some sections of the ruling elite, owing to the fact that Erap has been exposed of receiving lots of money from local politicians engaged in jueteng —that's a form of gambling here —so that jueteng can be preserved.

Most of the mainstream left groups —most are Marxist-Leninists and nat. dems, some are socdems —were there, but the rally was called by the opposition party (Lakas-NUCD), so there were also stupid congressmen that have shifted to criticize and call for the impeachment of Erap.

The problem with the alternatives posed by the commie groups here is that they of course do not want to do away with political and state power swiftly. The groups from the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), namely their front organizations BAYAN, KMU, GABRIELA, etc. even advocate to support and coalesce with the stupid state opposition parties and the ruling elite who have distanced themselves from Erap. These CPP groups advocate to the letter the four blocs approach by Stalin! (Yuck!)

Because these CPP groups have allied themselves with the state dogs, they have also made a stand to replace Erap Estrada with Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (GMA), the present vice-president! What these commies would do just to gain tactical advantages!!!

Others, like the Sosyalistang Partido ng Paggawa (SPP) and its allies have at least the people in mind; they advocate some sort of people's assemblies, a formation that's on the village level. But, since they're Marxists-Leninists, they still want these people's assemblies to elect representatives and maintain a top-to-bottom type of organization, so the whole state system is just replicated anyway.

What we in LAN are doing is to call for the people to rage! To get angry at the state and the capitalist system that has for so long giving nothing but poverty and bullshit to us all.

Since we in the Local Anarchist Network have only just begun consolidating and linking up with other anarchists in the Philippines, there were only four of us in the mob.

What we did was to disrupt the mob, to divert the attention of the crowd from the main program and conducted our own mock show, with our own LAN banner, green-and-black flags and posters with our slogans:

Aparado ng estado, wasakin! Durugin! Pasabugin!
(Destroy the State apparatus! Crush it! Bomb it!)

ERAP, GMA, FVR, ESTADO—Hindi solusyon!
(ERAP, GMA, FVR, THE STATE—not solutions!)

The masses don't need leaders! They already have themselves!

Next week we expect the whole thing to erupt, so we need all the support we can get. I'll keep you posted on all our statements, direct actions, etc.

Rodney
