Sisak, 10 February: The Russians aren’t abandoning the ironworks but are instead preparing to restart production and about 10 thousand tonnes of raw materials have been sent from the Russian based Mecelj [Mechel] to the Sisak plant, union leader Mato Somic said on Monday [10 February] after his meeting with the new director of the ironworks, i.e. the director of Conares Balkans, Nassibull Muhatdinov [name as received].

According to Somic, Muhatdinov presented business plans to restart production which could see a part of the 1700 workers at the ironworks back at work on 15 February.

He added that the new owner was planning to switch on the electric furnace and start production on 1 March and that raw materials had been ensured from Mecelj.

Sisak-Moslavina County's Economic-Social Council (GSV) on Monday inspected the state of the ironworks and invited the media and politicians to stop the negative politicizing around the sale of the company.
