Subject: [southnews] Mahgreb trade union grouping against war
The American-British aggression against Iraq is a declaration of war on all humanity and an attempt to expand the American hegemony in the world, said the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA)’s trade union.
In a release made public after the end of UMA’s (composed of
Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Tunisia) session on
globalization and economic and social practices and their impact on
Maghreban countries held this March 22-25, representatives of
Maghreban union delegations condemned the aggression—conducted
without heeding the international public opinion—as a breach to
international law and conventions.
The union said
this aggression is part of an imperialist plan to
steal the wealth of Arab nations, subjugate their peoples and violate
their legitimate rights, adding
it aims at closing definitely
the issue of the occupied territories, and denying the rights of the
Palestinian people to establish a state with Al-Quds as its capital,
Syria’s right over the Golan Heights and Lebanon’s
sovereignty in its southern territories.
The workers trade union praised the heroic resistance of the Iraqi
people against this
unjust aggression and the support of other
peoples in the world.
The union also urged Arab governments to be firm in calling without delay for the immediate halt of the American military action and of the interference in the domestic affairs of Arab states and other nations with the pretext of defending democratic and liberal values.
