Vancouver— The head of the BC Government Employees Union promises his union will fight the Gordon Campbell government every step of the way until the next provincial election.

George Heyman told delegates to the Union convention that they are under attack.

He cautioned members to organize at the local level in order to be ready for that election day.

Heyman told 500 BCGEU convention delegates they have to stand up and fight a government intent upon the privatization of their jobs.

Heyman predicted the next three years will be tough but he said government employees are up for a fight.

Heyman warned the Campbell government must be challenged and harassed in every community with more work stoppages and disruptions around the province.

He told delegates they must reach out to those who tuned out the NDP.

Heyman said focusing on municipal election victories this fall will position the union for some wins in the next provincial election.
