Teachers in Henan, Baofeng County, went to strike on June 12 after they did not get paid for eight months. Teachers rented more than 10 trucks and cars, holding banners saying, We want to survive, we want food, we want to live.

The protestors were stopped before the county government. After officials did not give a satisfactory answer, the angry teachers then went to Pingdingshan City. They requested the city government to provide a solution or else they would go to the provincial government. The city government agreed to pay for a month, and promised to pay the rest.

Latest reports indicate that the government planned to punish the organizers.

Throughout the country, teachers' salaries cannot be paid.
