In the Communist Movements in Russia there is a Smell of a Fifth Column

Statement by the Union of Communist Parties—CPSU, Northstar Compass, February 2003

This was the headline of an extensive article published in the Krasnoyarsk Gazet. The present Russian regime is aware and frightened by the popularity of the leader Oleg Shenin, who is dedicated and strives for a complete change of the present regime and the resurrection of the former Soviet Union and Socialism. This present regime utilizes the CPRF in order to organize the disruption and dismemberment of the united communist parties and thus through the CPRF to gain greater influence.

With this in mind, not too long ago there took place a great provocation by these Zyuganovites against the UCP-CPSU and its leader Oleg Shenin.

The Zyuganovites, wrote this newspaper: “very systematically are fulfilling this disruptive process in order to dislodge the union between Russia and Byelorussia and also to stop at all costs the union of Byelorussian and Russian communists.

The campaign of lies, provocations and innuendoes against Oleg Shenin sees no bounds. Seeing that they could not prevent the unity of the Communist parties of Byelorussia and Russia into one Communist Party of the Union, they decided to set up a parallel union that will be controlled by the leadership of the CPRF.”

There is an ongoing campaign in all former Soviet republics to have all the communist parties under the direction of the CPRF and thus in cooperation with the present Putin regime which is also under the influence of Western secret services.

But all over the country many newspapers started to criticize the right opportunism of the CPRF which aims to be the fifth column and has a social-democratic program.

“In the communist movement” — wrote “Kaliningrad Gubernatorial News” — for a long time there is a feeling that the CPRF has become a social democratic party, which still tries to masquerade itself as “Communist” and it uses communist phraseology. That is why in Moscow during the conference of the Russian Communist Union stated that in the first place of opportunism is the CPRF leadership who basically are carrying out the policies of Gorbachev.”

The newspaper “Omsk Times” stated that the ideological difference between Gennady Zyuganov and Shenin is the following:

“Zyuganov wants his representatives in all sections of the present government, from top to bottom and its own governors of districts.”

“Shenin says that without changing the whole Russian (Soviet) social-economic system, it is useless since it will be only changing bodies in posts and is only “parliamentary cronyism” as V.I. Lenin stated… but it will not change the lives for the better of the people.”

Zyuganov always praises himself as to how many “red Governors” and “mayors” there are in the CPRF.

But, where are all these “red Governors”? Where are all these “red Mayors”? Where are all also these “red Directors” of private enterprises? Where is this “red Patriotic Sash”? As always, the CPRF gathers only those CPRF candidates who have amassed their ill-gained profits. This situation does not improve the plight of the working class.

As the newspaper “Patriot” wrote not too long ago “a large majority of workers are sick and tired of these promises and lies. They do not believe in anyone. Instead of preaching changes and revolutionary upsurge, the leadership of the CPRF preaches constantly — “social partnership.” Zyuganov does not even mention the words “class struggle,” or even “proletariat,” or “exploitation of man by man.” These are the basics of Marxism. He says that he is a pupil of this “agent of influence” Alexander Yakovlev, this man who started the road that led to disintegration of the USSR and onto the road of opportunism. Gennady Zyuganov was a pupil of Alexander Yakovlev.

The openly opportunist position in the CPRF is being pushed and promoted by V. Kuptsov who at the Plenum of the CPRF said in part: “we have to work with the present regime: we have to agree to some programs: we have to support new laws that are sometimes detrimental to the workers: we have to also take the blame for what we support… but there is no other way. We had had our limits of revolutions!”

With this program there is no possibility of the CPRF coming to power.

The newspaper “Glasnost” devoted three large columns to the position of Gennady Zyuganov. The article is called correctly “Habitual Bourgeois.” Zyuganov's candidates to parliament read like a who's who in opportunism and richness. The truth is that the CPRF has no “presidential candidate” who really wants to become President. G. Zyuganov does not want to be president, in spite of his rhetoric or slogans during elections. His well-hidden mask as a “communist” would then be torn off for all to see.

When a “Pravda” correspondent asked Zyuganov if there is such a party that can take over the country, G. Zyuganov replied that there is only the Russian Patriotic Union. In actual fact Zyuganov said that the CPRF would not take over the Russian government, even if elected. No further comment is necessary.

We do not know why Zyuganov went into this political strip tease and now has finally thrown off the last piece of clothing. It is now spoken quite openly that the CPRF is so Zyuganovited that it is now no longer necessary to hide anything.

The anti-Marxist and anti-Leninist statements made by Gennady Zyuganov are explained by some of Zyuganov's “loyal friends” as if these statements were only a “tactical maneuver” and when the CPRF gets into power, Zyuganov then will become a real Communist and the CPRF will become a real Party. But there is a very simple question to these “loyal” followers of Zyuganov. If for the last ten years this “tactic” did not produce results, maybe there is now time for a change of tactics! This support of the CPRF tactics by their leading members does a great disservice to Russia (not to even mention the USSR) but it discredits the CPRF itself and all the communist movements and is leading Russia into an abyss from which it shall be ever harder to get out.

The latest coup by Zyuganov's CPRF echelons, who called an illegal meeting of the 101 member Plenum of the UCP-CPSU with only 37 of CPRF cronies attending, then illegality dismissed Oleg Shenin as its Chairman.

But the truth shall come out as to what was behind this coup by Zyuganov and his CPRF cronies.

The demagogic influence of the CPRF bosses over their membership shall not last long. Zyuganov is also organizing the likes of his policies in other former Soviet republics.

Into the offices of the Executive of the UCP-CPSU there arrive thousands of letters of support and condemnation of the vile actions of Zyuganov and supporting the Marxist-Leninist position of Oleg Shenin. The reconstruction and rejuvenation of dedicated communist parties is happening in other republics. In Ukraine there was formed another communist party called “Communist Party of Workers and Peasants of Ukraine” in order to show that the leadership of the Communist Party of Ukraine who during 1991 sold out the CPSU. The same is happening in other republics.

In Georgia a new party was born which united many groups and movements and the grandson of Stalin, Eugene Dzhugashvili was elected as its Chairman. In Byelorussia, as in Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Armenia, Estonia the same process is taking place.
