ICFTU points to serious labour violations in Georgia

The General Secretary of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions concerned over serious violations of trade union rights and called on President Shevardnadze to put a stop to all interference on the part of the authorities into the activities of the ICFTU affiliate, the Georgian Trade Union Amalgamation (GTUA).
‘Trade Union property must be handed over to the State’, 3 September 2004. Most of the Borjomi Gorge infrastructure belongs to the Trade Unions, the president told reporters and added that the TU leadership would have to hand over this property to the state.
